The Big Picture

25. I feel like an adult-child. I can't say that I ever foresaw myself unemployed, single, educated and living at home at 25. I did all the right things, went to school, did well in school, sought out higher and higher education and I have the degrees to prove it. I also have the loans to prove it yet I have no source of employment to prove it.

I graduated law school in May of this year and took the bar for two states in July. I failed one bar and I'm (im)patiently awaiting the results of the second - although I must admit I've psyched myself out into believing that I've failed that one as well. So here I sit...broke and gearing up to relinquish another several months of my life until the February bar.

However, I can step back and look at the bigger picture, the long-term, not just the short-term. But where does this leave me? Nowhere. Not a damn place. Even if I pass the February bar - will I find a job? This economy is horrible, the job market is pitiful, and this country is going to hell in a handbasket. I feel like my generation got screwed. We were brought up to work-hard, attain higher education, accumulate all the degrees financial aid would allow, and then find a 6-figure job and live life. I want to say most of us did that and now what? Where are these jobs? Where's my 6-figure income? Where's MY LIFE?! The amount of debt I have in student loans - I should own a home! I have a mortgage on TWO huge degrees that aren't even hanging anywhere because I don't even have a job with an office to showcase them!

At this point...the big picture sucks.
